What time of the year is best to get married ? Weddings are celebrated all year around, however many local exceptions apply, so essentially it really depends on the location where you want to get married. If you are concerned about the weather please consider that the Southern you go the better PROBABILITY of getting warmer and nicer weather you have, especially during Winter time for which you should have a Wedding above Florence only if you do not really care about the possibility of having cold and rainy weather. For your information please have a look at Average temperatures in Italy. Be aware that Italians mostly get married in the period from April to September, particularly during the week-ends. This will mean that if you do not plan ahead, you will simply have less choice when selecting a venue for the Reception and Ceremony. Italians usually start planning their Weddings about one year in advance by booking venues. If you are having a Civil Wedding be aware that some of the City Halls and government offices will be closed on Sundays and on the national and local holidays listed below, but again it really depends on the location. Big cities may close its City Halls and government offices (or simply not perform Civil Weddings) during the month of August and between Christmas and the Epiphany. Special exceptions are possible but need to be arranged, for example some locations will allow the Ceremony in a non working day, but for an extra fee. Please be aware that the above limitations may apply to service providers as well.
